Honest Means is a high-country storytelling and photography series to share the journey and memories of Dave Osmers. It is a story of harsh landscapes, long, hard days, and many friends made along the way.
As his grandson, it is my privilege to bring this collection out into light. The photos shared here were taken in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Dave developed most of them himself, in a small cottage in the Makarora Valley, the "Blue Room", in which I once lived as a boy, some decades later.
This work is dedicated to my grandmother and the beautiful land on which we live, both which have made so very much adventure possible.
